Today India's 61st Re-Publicday Celebrations

Celebrations of India’s 61st Republic Day begins in New Delhi. The Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh paid tribute at the Amar Jawan Jyoti.
Chief guest Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was welcomed by President Pratibha Patil before the parade at Vijay Chowk.
Along with the Defence Minister AK Antony, the three defence chiefs are also present at the function.

New Delhi, Jan 26: Delhi has been turned into a fortress with thousands of army personnel keeping a tight vigil on every movement in the city. Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and helicopters are also keeping an hawk's eye from the skies of Delhi.

Nearly 35,000 police personnel, including forces from National Security Guards (NSG) and paramilitary forces have been put on duty.
Snipers laced with high-end equipments and police personnel have kept the parade area under their control to ensure that no security lapse takes place.
Anti-aircraft guns, and sharpshooters of NSG have also been put into service. Vehicle movement on Rajpath was banned from 6 pm on Jan 25
